ORCID is unique in its ability to reach across disciplines, research sectors, and national boundaries and its cooperation with other identifier systems. An ORCID identifier is an alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies an academic author. It is a 16-digit code, in the format: 0000-0000-0000-0000.
